Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. This looks like a first winter male. This species is rare for our area this time of year.

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Note the row of holes on the left drilled by the bird. A few are seeping sap. This was interesting as it was 19˚F with a wind chill below zero at the time.
