Oatka Creek Park • August 1
Belted Kingfisher. This is a male, as it only has the one dark "belt" across its breast. The female would have a second rufous belt.
Belted Kingfisher. There are current at least two kingfishers regularly hunting the creek downstream of the bridge, and there are probably more upstream of the bridge. They are all very wary of my approach and usually I have to take pictures from behind trees and bushes through spaces in the intervening foliage.
