Oatka Creek Park • July 4

Great Spangled Fritillary. It's July. The Wild Bergamots are in bloom. It's time for the large butterflies! This species is one of my favorites.

Great Spangled Fritillary. The field guide says this flower is very fragrant, but I can't detect much of a scent. The butterflies certainly relish them, however.

Great Spangled Fritillary. This butterfly obligingly landed on a nearby flower.
