Oatka Creek Park • July 2

White-tailed Deer. The fawns still have their spots!

Scarlet Tanager. These birds have become very vocal of late, but are impossible to see due to all the leaves in the trees.

Smooth Hedge-Nettle. This is a new wildflower for me! It found it along the creek.

Common Buckeye. This is a southern butterfly that during the late summer can occasionally wander up as far as southern Canada.

Common Buckeye. The number of buckeyes that I will see in a year can usually be counted on one hand. This year I am up to two, though it may have been the same butterfly on two separate days at the same location.
