Oatka Creek Park • March 3

Oatka Creek Park, Monroe, US-NY
Mar 3, 2012
Protocol: Traveling
4.8 mile(s)
Comments:     It was a windy and mostly cloudy 43F hike in Oatka today. It was extremely windy which put most birds in hiding and masked most of their vocalizations. Flocks of Canada Geese continued to move across the sky and a possibly new wave of Robins arrived at the base of Warbler Loop. They were feeding on the multifloral rose hips in abundance at this location. A larger than normal flock of Dark-eyed Juncos were along the dirt road between the parking lot and woods: a migration movement? The Red-winged Blackbirds continued to sing from the swamp near the parking lot without regard to the elements.
