Comments:     It was an overcast and windy 29F hike in Oatka today. Light snow flurries were falling as I walked through the silent park. A band of chickadees with an accompanying titmouse moved though Gypsum Hollow Trail, stopping to feed on Staghorn Sumac berries. Entering Warbler Loop, sudden loud triple buzzes of Golden-crowned Kinglets erupted on both my right and left sides, sounding all the louder in contrast with the overall quiet. A male kinglet popped up long enough to flash its bright orange crown and then disappeared back down into the shrubs. The remainder of the hike would be interrupted only by occasional White-throated Sparrow calls.
