Summerville Pier • December 1

Summerville Pier, Monroe, US-NY
Dec 1, 2011 11:55 AM
Protocol: Incidental
Comments:     It was a sunny and clear 45F midday walk on Summerville Pier today. Arriving first at Charlotte Pier, I ran into Kimberly Sucy who reported no luck finding a Snowy Owl until she did only last scan of Summerville Pier and found one! Kimberly had to leave at that point, but Dominic Sherony showed up just then and Dominic and I went over to Summerville Pier for a great photo op of the Snowy. While there, a male White-winged Scoter floated by right under out noses, giving us another outstanding photographic subject.

Snowy Owl on Summerville Pier seen from Charlotte Pier. For those who have never seen a Snowy Owl before, it can stand out in the open like this and is about as big as the posts running down the center of the pier.
