Comments:     It was a partially sunny 33F early morning birding hike in Oatka today. The skies were overcast at the start, though they slowly cleared and the second half of the walk was under mostly sunny conditions. It was a quiet morning, possibly due to the slightly breezy conditions. The crows were mobbing something south of the creek as I walked the trail on the northern side. Woodpecker numbers were low, though cardinal numbers seemed to be high. The best encounter was with a small flock of bluebirds that were investigating tree cavities in a copse set back from Black Billed Cuckoo Trail. As I was looking directly in the direction of the sun, I had to shoot blind and just hope I would get some reasonable pictures. Fortunately, I had luck in that regard. That was it apart from exchanging Merry Christmas's with the dog walkers.
