Comments:     It was a sunny and clear sky 33F early morning birding hike in Oatka today. It was a glorious December morning. At about an hour after sunrise bird activity was peaking with mixed flocks of birds in a number of places. At one point in the wooded section of Black Billed Cuckoo Trail all five common woodpecker species were around me. Mixed with that particular flock were a Brown Creeper, chickadees, titmice, and Golden-crowned Kinglets. Practically every nearby tree had something avian to offer. Other highlights were a Belted Kingfisher and a Winter Wren along the creek and a Northern Mockingbird along the dirt road on the way back to the parking lot.
