Comments:     It was a cloudy and 36F late afternoon birding hike in Oatka today. It was a profoundly gloomy outing with rain starting as I returned to my car at the end. Approaching the creek, the rattle of a Belted Kingfisher announced itself. Meeting a few people standing by the bridge over the creek, they asked if I ever saw Great Blue Herons on the creek. Right on cue, a Great Blue Heron landed near the bridge and provided outstanding views for the assembled group. Hairy Woodpeckers were particularly vocal this evening. Aside from these events, the remainder of the walk was rather quiet.
