Oatka Creek Park • October 13

Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Comments:     It was a cloudy and 67F early evening birding hike in Oatka today. My arrival at the park was only an hour before sunset, so I had just enough time to make it down to the bridge over the creek and back to the parking lot. Shortly after leaving the parking lot I found an uncommon bird for the park: a Northern Mockingbird. As I was taking pictures of the mockingbird, a Yellow-rumped Warbler arrived and stayed for a brief photo-op as well. White-throated Sparrows called from several places throughout the walk, though I only got a visual along Warbler Loop on my way back from the quiet and bird-free creek. At one point Ring-billed Gulls floated low and overhead as they tend to do over the park this time of year.
