Comments:     It was a partially sunny and 44F noontime walk down Zoo Road in Durand Eastman Park today. It was a quiet walk with the most interesting event being a pair of Red-tailed Hawks soaring overhead, calling loudly and persistently to each other. A Red-breasted Nuthatch was also a nice find. This year's crop of crabapples appeared a bit low in numbers and the fruits showed more imperfections that I recall from previous years. On the other hand, the yew berry-like cones looked to be healthy and in good numbers. I found a furtive group of Cedar Waxwings, though they did not seem interested in the surround fruit at that particular moment.
