Comments:     It was a mostly sunny and 50F late afternoon birding hike in Oatka today. Judy Gurley accompanied me today as we looked, sadly in vain, for migrant warblers. Our high point was a large flock of Northern Rough-winged Swallows flycatching over the creek by the bridge. As we continued to stand still on the bridge, the swallows came closer and closer to us, ultimating making passes only a few feet above our heads. Back at the parking lot, while we were watching nuthatches and Chipping Sparrows, Judy spotted a Baltimore Oriole atop one of the large evergreens on the adjacent private property. It was a nice consolation prize for an otherwise quiet walk.
