Comments:     It was a sunny early afternoon hike around Nick's Lake today. Though generally quiet, there were a few pockets of interesting birds. A Magnolia Warbler appeared in the midst of several chickadees near the beginning. In an area of deciduous trees a White-breasted Nuthatch called out. Later, regions of evergreens hosted several active Red-breasted Nuthatches. A pocket of noisy Golden-crowned Kinglets paralleled the trail for some distance, and I enjoyed following them until I was distracted by a Hermit Thrush that popped up in from of me and permitted a photo-op. A kingfisher flew along the lakeshore at one point and other usual suspects completed the list.
