Oatka Creek Park • June 25

It was a mostly cloudy and wet 65F midmorning birding hike in Oatka today. My niece and I took a brief walk around the bluebird nesting field between Bluebird Trail and Old Burrell Road. The variety of species was interesting as we dodged the rain water rolling off the tree leaves along the wooded portions of the walk. The highlight was a group of four Baltimore Orioles zooming around the field and into the bordering trees. It appeared to be a family unit of some kind, though we didn't get a close enough look to discern sexes or ages of the birds.
