Durand Eastman Park • April 30

Saturday morning I attended the Rochester Birding Association field trip to Durand Eastman Park. We walked the Eastman Lake Trail and was it ever so birdy! We had a lot of fun surprises and gorgeous weather. It was a great way to spend a glorious morning!

Chestnut-sided Warbler. This was my favorite bird of the trip.

Wood Duck. This female and the male below were in an odd location: in the middle of the trail in front of us!

Wood Duck. Finally, we saw the reason for this unusual situation ...

Red-tailed Hawk. Suddenly this hawk dove from its perch above at the ducks. They escaped. The hawk then decided to land on a perch right above our heads!
