Rochester CBC • Braddock Bay Sector (Railroad Bed Part) • December 19

Peter Debes and I birded the railroad bed between Long Pond and Manitou Roads in Greece today as part of the Rochester Christmas Bird Count. We had a fun and productive morning! The highlights were lots of fresh wild turkey tracks in the snow, a mockingbird, a kestrel, a few red-tailed hawks, and a great blue heron. We also had some remarkably sized flocks compressed into small areas such as 49 mourning doves perched in the space of a couple adjacent trees, and 150 house sparrows concentrated in a couple places in a residential backyard. :-)
